Gerhard Werle, Professor of International Criminal Law, Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin,Florian Jessberger, Professor of Criminal Law, University of Hamburg

Gerhard Werle is Professor of International Criminal Law at Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin. He has been a visiting professor at various universities worldwide, including Columbia Law School, New York; Kansai University, Osaka; University of Sydney; University of Technology, Sydney; University of Cape Town; and University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, where he is Director of the South African-German Centre for Development Research and Criminal Justice. Professor Werle was a member of the Working Group on the Introduction of a Code of Crimes Against International Law established by the German Federal Ministry of Justice, and is a member of the Expert Committee of the German Red Cross on International Humanitarian Law. His works on international criminal law, transitional justice, and modern legal history have been published widely in many languages.

Florian Jessberger is Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Hamburg, where he serves as the Director of the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies, and a Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law. Jessberger holds law degrees from the University of Cologne and the Humboldt-University Berlin. Before joining Hamburg University's Faculty of Law in 2010, Jessberger was the Lichtenberg Professor of International and Comparative Criminal Law at Humboldt-University in Berlin.

DAVID H. ROSS is an illustrator who has worked with all of the major North American comic book publishers including Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Dark Horse Comics. He has produced storyboards for feature films, and prepared artwork and advised on special projects for television. For the past ten years, he has held workshops on drawing for comic books and has acted as co-coordinator and instructor of a successful three-year Sequential Arts diploma program at Max the Mutt College of Animation, Art, and Design in Toronto, Canada.

The book is basically a how to on the mannequinization of the human body. This is an essential step in drawing action figures, especially from imagination. The book is full of a variety of poses including action, reclining, sitting, etc., and in that way should be helpful to illustrators. However, my pet peeve with this book is the absolute failure to show dimensions or construction details for a single figure or part. For example, nowhere are we told that the mannequin head may be approximated by a sphere for the cranial mass, nor how to divide that mass to locate the hairline or brow ridge. Neither are we shown how to construct the jaw approximation that attaches to it or how to locate the nose or mouth. Neither do the torso, pelvis, or limbs have any associated dimensions or construction details. Yes, we do see plenty of examples of each of these elements drawn from a variety of angles, twists and rotations. The author's intent seems to be to provide a large variety of examples which he expects everyone to practice over and over. I understand this. There is no substitute in drawing for rehearsal ad nauseam. But construction details/methods are also enormously important and would be very much appreciated.If you would like to draw figures from imagination and are interested in the mannequinazation of the human body, I think that the best book for this is Andrew Loomis' "Figure Drawing for All Its Worth." This is the volume that Normal Rockwell often praised and I find the treatment much more satisfying than Ross' book. At the time of this writing, it is still in print and available new or used from Amazon. It is an established classic and still used in figure drawing curricula the world over.

Ross is an amazing illustrator and the book is inspiring. However I predict it takes years and years of practice ( plus methods and tricks learned elsewhere ) before one could even approach the level of competency expressed by the images in the book. Nonetheless, there are a *ton* of pages and a *ton* of exercises so the value is definitely there.

I specifically liked this book because it started off by explaining the basics and built from there. I wouldn't recommend this book for beginners, because I could see it being a little frustrating if you're just starting out. I appreciate that it actually talks in depth about perspective, because it can be very difficult to find books or websites that do more than briefly mention it.

Superb book. Helpful, unpretentious, and to the point. Very readable book and wonderful reference teaching a glass mannequin technique that will help you draw with a model or without one.

This book focuses highly on drawing the figure in perspective. To be honest, most figure drawing books only touch on the figure in perspective. This is a worthwhile buy for those learning to draw comics to realistic figures and helping you learn how to put them in perspective perspective

A really good book. Not the step by step drawing guide though.. But it sure explained a lot of important basics. The book is of good quality. Great buy!

KABBALAH This landmark work by an innovative modern kabbalist reveals the mathematical code at the base of the laws of all cosmic manifestation. The author presents a scientific model for kabbalistic cosmology and soul psychology derived from the kabbalistic diagram of the Tree of Life and her own Sabbath Star Diagram--a configuration of seven Star of David hexagrams. This geometric model begins with the four worlds of the classical Kabbalah and is then expanded to three higher enclosing worlds or levels of evolving consciousness. The Sabbath Star Diagram therefore accommodates both the emanationist cosmology of the earlier Zoharic Kabbalah and the future orientation of the later Kabbalah of Isaac Luria. The author takes us through the seven spiritual worlds of the Kabbalah and relates them to the conscious development of the soul. By showing the soul the way through these spiritual “worlds,” the author takes us to the final stage of the Kabbalah where the finite and infinite are united and the secret doctrine of the Kabbalah is revealed. Not only does this work offer a new, inclusive model for the Kabbalah but it also provides a basis for complexity theory, with its final extrapolation to infinity. The universality of this model is further shown by its application in the domains of physics, sociology, linguistics, and human history. This universal model encodes the laws of all cosmic manifestation in terms that are particularly coherent with the formulations of the Kabbalah, giving a mathematical basis to many aspects of this mystical tradition and providing a new synthesis of science and spirituality for our time that may well write a new chapter to the Kabbalah. LEONORA LEET (1929-2004) received her Ph.D. from Yale University and was a professor of English at St. John’s University who specialized in Renaissance literature, a field in which she published widely. She pursued her study of the Kabbalah and Jewish spirituality under noted kabbalist Aryeh Kaplan and Zalman Schachter-Shalomi and found support for her work in scholars such as Stanley Krippner, Martin Samuel Cohen, Robert Zoller, Santosh Desai, John Anthony West, Joscelyn Godwin, and Robert Lawlor, with whom she studied Pythagorean geometry at Lindisfarne Institute. Leet’s previous books on the Kabbalah are Renewing the Covenant, The Secret Doctrine of the Kabbalah, and The Kabbalah of the Soul.

A mind opening and synapse sparking book. Within the first thirty pages, the little light bulb in my head fired and I started constructing triangular, square and cube sentences. This book clarified a number of concepts that I couldn't apprehend as well as many I didn't comprehend. Delicious brain and soul food.

This is one of the scariest books ever written. Of course a woman, and a Jewish Doctor would essentially crack 10,000 years of mystical knowledge with a well read Nukvah. All sacred geometry has parallels from Eastern faith and the Kabbalah. Mark my words paradigm's from this book will be used in all sorts of Freaky Deaky stuff in 50 years. Like seances and stuff with computers plugged in your head like the matrix. The weight of the universe is zero I'm afraid.

The Universal Kabbalah by Leonora Leet is definitely for thosewho have developed a spiritual capacity to identify the truthnot just from using traditional logic and critical analysis, butwho have an innate intuitive knowing that bypasses conventional wisdom. Leonora Leet in my opinion has managed to breach the gap between mere intellectual knowledge and deeper intuitive udnerstanding. In this her new book, she has taken those who like herself have developed a mystic's grasp of what lies behind all reality to an even more elightened place of Absolute truth. For those readers who do not grasp the fundamental aspects of geometry, her book may be challenging but it is certainly worth the read because it is a pioneering work that I believe will become a classic in years to come.

Quite different than reading the Bahir, Sefer Yetzirah and the like, but really gets you to thinking.I think "thunderbug" could have at least read the back cover and some of the inside before denouncing it, but considering that this person has negatively reviewed more than one of Leet's books, ya gotta wonder whether the consistently poor reviews aren't an agenda.

The use of the word Kabbalah in the title is very misleading,this is simply Not a book about Kabbalah.This is a book about the endless geometric permuatations of the triangle and the star of David.The author hardly bothers to speak about virtually any aspects of Kabbalah whatsoever and this is exceedingly annoying.Its about as exciting as reading the ingredients to a candy bar,and thats what your getting when you buy this book.It should be called Geometry meets candy coated kabbalah.
